1. Tips in mySAP® HR

Remuneration Statement with HRFORMS
The SAP Enterprise Release contains HRFORMS – a new technology to create remuneration and time statements. HRFORMS is an enhancement of SAPFORMS and additionally contains the HR specific data collection. With HRFORMS you have the possibility to graphically configure the remuneration statement using different fonts, including logos and pictures. Also you can define own fields or tables filled with ABAP and include the information in your remuneration statement. Before using HRFORMS please find more information and check the right support package release at SAP note 744147. HRFORMS can not be used in every country. More information you find at SAP Service Marketplace: service.sap.com/hrpay.

Not every infotype change creates an infotype log
If a change made to an infotype defined as „to be logged“ causes an infotype log to be created. The logs are stored in table PCL4. If fields are changed that are not to be logged, e.g. the split of an infotype into two without changing any other fields, no log will be created in table PCL4. If a log is necessary for revision purposes or an internal control system, a modification has to be done. SAP note 44206 describes the necessary steps.

Query-Tip
In SAP Query you can create dynamic header and footer lines. You can insert the username, date and time as well as values of table fields.
Start SAP Query, choose a query and hit the Change button. Then you choose Basic List and go further by clicking on Next screen until you are in Basic List Header. Place the cursor on the header line and hit F1. It contains a detailed description about how to insert variables and field values.

Problems with SAP GUI after Windows Update
Latest Microsoft-updates include a Microsoft Explorer 7 upgrade. After installing the windows update problems occur with SAPGUI for windows. Several parts or even whole pages of the SAP help and some transactions are not displayed anymore.
Solution: Either you avoid the installation of Microsoft Explorer 7 or SAPGUI 6.40 with patch level minimum 20 is required.

1.1 Tips from ROC Consulting, Weybridge UK

How to upload Bank key (BNKA) table periodically?
It is a common requirement for many payroll clients to ask how to avoid day to day manual updating of Bank Keys. What they need is a standard program/transaction to upload the Bank Key information in a batch input mode.
A program 'RFBVALL_0' is available in SAP and it captures and uploads the following data into infotype Bank Details (0009):

a) Bank name
b) City and ZIP code
c) Street
d) Bank key
e) Bank number
f) S.W.I.F.T. code
g) Branch
h) Region
Before uploading start the report in test mode (this will not update the table BNKA), if the result is satisfactory then start the real mode (this updates table BNKA). A statistical display will show you how many banks were created or changed. A detailed list is available on the selection screen, if this is selected it will show you, the successfully changed bank details. Transaction 'FI01' also can be used to update/create records; this is useful where you would like to update a few records.

Flexicurity
Or how world of work is changing

At the personnel congress in Nuremberg I heard Matthias Horx lecturing about fascination of future and I was fascinated. Horx is a future researcher, author, former journalist and optimist. He explores trends and proves that our future will not be as bad as everybody believes. The trend guru roasts „apocalypse cowards “, negative media coverage and future clichés.

The Quality Plan for Projects – an important part of AdManus-Quality-Management
At some point, every Quality Management (QM) faces the same dilemma: on the one hand, QM’s objective is to motivate all of those concerned to not simply practice quality, but to also document it. Only then is it possible to conduct an independent inspection. On the other hand this often creates pressures, which, particularly when time is scarce, lead to half-hearted and belated compliance with QM-requirements. A practicable compromise is what is needed: obligation to document, yes of course, but “as little as possible and as much as necessary”.

What Working Hours and Percentage in Infotype 0007 Really Mean
In this HR-Expert article (November 2006) Sven Ringling, Executive Director at iProCon, explains what working hours and percentage in infotype 7 (planned working time) exactly mean. Many users are unaware of how these fields interact with each other, with time evaluation, and with infotype 0008 (basic pay). A particular mistake often occurs when an employee works more than 100% of planned working time. (The article can only be accessed by HR-Expert subscribers.)

6. News from SAP AG

SAP release strategy
„User have to hurry up upgrading ERP“ titles the 'Computerwoche' on December 18th. SAP advises to upgrade the release to ERP2005. Clients, who just changed their release to ERP2004 or lower, should soon change to ERP2005 which is the sustainable release. The support for release 4.6c definitely ends in December 2006. From next year on you have to pay for extended support (which you have to arrange in 2006 to receive 2006/2007 support package).
The next ERP release will be released after 2010. Extensions to ERP2005 will be delivered twice a year as free enhancement packages. Those have to be installed complete (cross-module). Support packages will still be delivered.

Mendocino turns into Duet
Duet combines mySAP ERP 2004 with Microsoft Office 2003 and allows employees to fulfill Self-Services in Outlook. For instance you may be able to enter working time and send absence notes from Outlook calendar.
Here you get a short demonstration of the use of Duet.
