1 Tips in SAP® HCM

Management by Objectives
For customers who want to use the new appraisal functionality of MbO but the old appraisal system for training feedback and participant appraisal in TEM: basically you have to replace both, the old personnel appraisal and TEM appraisal functionality by MbO via switch in T77S0. Read here which alternatives you have to use old and new appraisal functionality at the same time.

Authorizations: schemes and rules display only
If some users shall be authorized to only display transactions PE01 (Personnel Calculation Schemas) or PE02 (Personnel Calculation Rules) you might have looked for some authorization objects and found P_PE01 and P_PE02. These authorization objects are supposed to fulfill this requirement. Unfortunately they don’t work (yet) (see note 709949). An alternative to this is the use of a transaction variant. With transaction code SHD0 you can create a transaction variant where, in this case, you hide buttons and deactivate menu functions for creating, copying, changing and deleting schemes or rules. Then you will assign a custom transaction code, e.g. ZPE01 to the transaction variant and add the new transaction code to the user menu.

How to delete protected selection screen variants
If somebody creates a protected selection screen variant by selecting the field Protect variant, the variant can only be changed or deleted by the user who created it or last changed it. If this user doesn’t exist anymore you need the report RSVARENT. This report cancels variant protection for the selected reports. Don’t forget to select the report or variant on the selection screen, otherwise you cancel all variant protections at once.

How to delete posting runs no longer required?
To delete old posting runs (result of report RPCIPE00 or RPCIPE00_OLD) you can use the delete functionality of transaction PCP0. An easier way is to use report RPCIPQ00. RPCIPQ00 could be used for the efficient reorganization of posting runs. Using report RPCIPQ00 periodically leads to better performance of transaction PCP0 because of less data is stored in the relevant tables.

The latest trend are audio-recorded job advertisements. Jobs in Pods (http://jobsinpods.com/) offers this service and conducts an interview with the employer to present the job. The interview is saved as an audio file MP3. The audio file can be downloaded from the Jobs in Pods site or published on the employers career page.

First, Break All the Rules: What the World's Greatest Managers Do Differently
