1 Tips in SAP® HCM

Improved performance in authorization checks in client-internal reporting
Authorization checks (particularly the context-dependent authorization check) require substantial runtime within a program. For reports with extremely long runtimes, it may therefore be advisable – with regard to data protection – to disable this check, or to replace it by an own check. In order to find out how to do this, click here.

When is Training and Event Management going to be replaced by Learning Solution?
In several HCM areas, SAP has juxtaposed “old” modules with new modules, such as “old” TEM with new LSO. If you want to find out how this process will be continued, read here.

Structural authorization – tolerance period after organizational change
Example: A Manager has access to employees of his own organizational unit. In his authorization profile (transaction OOSP) in field Period the validity of the structure is restricted by „F = Future“ or „D = Current day“. If yesterday an employee has changed the organizational unit, the manager would have today no access to this employee any more. Since release 6.20 the system provides a new authorization main switch for a tolerance period: AUTSW ADAYS. You can set a tolerance time that extends the period of responsibility beyond the date of the change (as you already know this from general authorization main switch PLOGI ADAYS). As you set the value 15, the manager would have access to his employee 15 days longer. You find the switch in customizing table T77S0. More information on that provides the SAP note 375216. This and many more useful tips you also find in our book "Authorizations in SAP® ERP HCM“.

2 Abbreviations in SAP® HCM from A - Z

Would you have known?

CLCCountry Legal Changes are country-specific HR legal changes for a given country. After installation of general support packages (relevant for all countries) the client can install the required country-specific changes.

CSS – HTML pages are usually formatted using CSS templates (Cascading Style Sheets), which enable you to apply a defined design (background, font size, font color etc.) to multiple pages. CSS templates are also used to set up web applications with Business Intelligence content. More about formatting web templates with BI content you find in “HR-Reporting with SAP”.

Dynpro – the dynamic program is a screen image. Every infotyp for example has a dynpro for the list screen (button overview) and a dynpro for the single screen. The main components of a dynpro are the visible layout (with fields and buttons) and the flow logic, which calls the relevant ABAP modules. General dynpros are set up by the Screen Painter. Special dynpros like selection screens are set up implicit. If you want to hide infotyp fields or to make fields mandatory, you have to know the program of the dynpro and the screen number. To get this information, start the application and go to system > status. The infotype screen control you access via customizing table T588M.

AdManus Customer Survey 2009 has been completed
As in previous years, all AdManus-consultants decided to face up to an anonymised evaluation by their customers. And again, the result was an enjoyable one: On a scale of 1 (very high) to 5 (extremely low), average customer satisfaction was 1.7, including all evaluations provided.
What was quite remarkable was the increased return rate, from approximately 45% to nearly 60%. For this high degree of participation, we would like to express our gratitude to all customers. As promised we will donate 785€ to the German famine relief organisation Welthungerhilfe. For more details on the survey results, click here.
