Clean up the basic configuration for international HR-data

The first international use of SAP HR often doesn’t start with a large rollout project over several processes including payroll. In many cases it is just about maintaining a few infotypes for employees in foreign subsidiaries. Even if HR is used for one country only, you need certain basic customizing settings for other countries, e.g. in order to maintain foreign addresses or reimburse travel expenses fort rips abroad.

However, after several years of neglect due to focus on one country only, the respective customizing settings are often in very poor shape. In most cases there has been no comparison with client 000 during upgrade projects and often someone has played around with these settings without resetting them to SAP standard again.
Therefore it is recommended to reset the respective settings (except those changed with purpose) from client 000 before starting any international application. Settings also needed for processes in one country (such as currencies) should be updated regularly.

Here are some of these settings:

  • Global country parameters (V_T005)
  • Plausibility checks for countries (V_005_B)
  • Currencies and exchange rates, as far as they are not updated by the accounting department (TCURT and further tables)
  • Postal codes, provinces / states / districts / counties etc.
  • Infotype properties (particularly V_T582A)
  • Infotype views (feature IVWID and V_T582V
  • Screen modifications (T588M and included features, feature CSSCR)
  • Dynamic actions (T588Z)
  • Travel countries / regions (T005T) as well as reimbursement rules for travel expenses
