1 Tips in SAP® HCM

BI: Starting with SAP BI in the area of Time Management
Using Business Intelligence Systems in the area of human resources becomes more and more important to provide different groups of people in a company with key data, so that they can make strategic decisions based on the given information. This raises the value of the human resources department to a strategic business partner. Systems that become more and more capable are needed to provide the required data automatically. Read further and learn why it is best to start with Time Management when you intend to implement SAP BI.

OM: Job- and position-description in Organizational Management
They may already be familiar: reports RHXDESC0 (job description) and RHXDESC1 (position description). You can configure the layout of these descriptions without programming, in accordance with your needs. In order to find out how to do this, click here.

Travel: Upgrading to ERP2005 and problems with forms
After upgrading to ERP2005 an error may occur when initialising the expense report / travel expense statement in travel manager or travel expense manager. That is because the standard tries to display the new pdf-based form (Adobe). If you still want to use the old form you have to change the following customizing setting: Travel Management > Travel Expenses > Dialog and Travel Expenses Control > Travel Expenses Control > Travel Expenses Control (Expert View), row Other Settlemen, 3rd group, set the 4th value to '1'.

OM: Inconsistency when renaming translated objects (infotype 1000)
When you rename objects in transaction PP01 you will get inconsistent infotype records if different languages of an object name exist.
Example: The object name of an organizational unit (Department XY) is also existent in German language (Abteilung XY). On 01/01/2008 the object name changes (Department YZ). You copy the infotype 1000 in transaction PP01 'Object' and change the English title in new record beginning 01/01/2008. The previous record will be delimited at 12/31/2007. The new record with the English title is valid from 01/01/2008 to 12/31/9999. But, the record with the German translation will only be delimited at 12/31/2007 without creating a new record from 01/01/2008. The Germany title does not exist anymore in your system.
You can avoid this error if you copy and rename the organizational unit in transaction PPOME. There will be automatically created a new record from 01/01/2008 to 12/31/9999 with the same name which you can change afterwards.
