1 Tips in SAP® HCM

Objective Setting and Appraisals
Increase Flexibility in Controlling Template Field Properties
Template configuration in Performance Management first defines for each field, whether it is open for input or not. Then it is possible to control for columns and rows, depending on Status and User Role, whether they are open for input, display only or hidden. But that’s it. More finetuning or using different criteria such as the substatus are not possible in the normal configuration in the appraisal template catalogue. Get to know the way to get around this restriction.

Do you already know these Parameter IDs?
You probably already know how to maintain your user profile with parameter IDs which allow customizing your SAP GUI to your individual requirements by the menu path System ® User profile ® Own Data and tab “Parameters”. Parameter ID HR_DISP_INFTY_NUM is especially interesting for personnel administrators. Storing this parameter with the value „X“ will add the infotype number in the headline of HR master data maintenance. Administrators of personnel calculation schemas and rules can predefine the table display or structural graphics by Parameter ID HRPE01_DISPLAYMODE or HRPE02_DISPLAYMODE and the value „TABLE“ or „TREE“.

2 Abbreviations in SAP® HCM from A - Z

Would you have known?

CATS – the Cross Application Time Sheet is a cross application SAP component and a high flexible tool to transport time management data into different SAP modules to monetarily price them. It for example provides attendances and absences for the capacity planning of the logistic component. Or CATS notebook is an offline application which is designed for external employees. They can enter their data offline on their laptop and synchronize it later with the ERP-System. More about CATS you learn in our article „What is SAP CATS for?“)

CATT – the Computer Aided Test Tool you can on the one hand use to automate test procedures. The tool enables you to record transaction chains and to automatically replay them in a test case. You’ll get a system message where you can analyze error cases. On the other hand you can use the tool for a greater upload of data into SAP HCM. You find a good description of this procedure in the article „Save Time by Using CATT to Upload HR Data Automatically“ of HR Expert, Volume 3, Issue 3 (http://www.hrexpertonline.com – for HR-Expert subscribers only).

CRMCustomer Relationship Management supports all customer processes and is integrated in SAP HCM in many cases. It includes for example the Workforce Management application with its Shift Planning.
