1. Tips in mySAP® HR
Reporting: Selection period and further selection help Do you know the difference between data selection period and person selection period? Do you use to full capacity of the selection screen for reporting? Answers to this you can find here.
US Payroll Tax Models in SAP HR Tax models drive how wages are taxed in the SAP US payroll calculation. SAP supplies a general tax model with the system, but if you do business in local tax authorities or have complex taxation rules then you will most likely have to configure your own tax models. There are several steps and basic settings that define what is taxable, non-taxable, or adds to a taxable wage base. Several items on the tax jurisdiction (i.e. tax authority) have to be set up and then that is matched to the appropriate processing class values to achieve proper taxation. The full article of Steve Bogner from Insight Consulting Partners you find here: http://www.insightcp.com/res_21.htm Job postings and publications in e-recruiting vs. R/3 recruitment When changing from the old recruitment solution in R/3 to e-recruiting, you will see that a very annoying problem of the old solution’s data structure has been solved in the new solution. You can now assign many different publications to one posting. This is exactly what is necessary, because in most cases more than one publication channel is used to publish a posting. In R/3 recruitment you had to create a new posting for each publication thus creating redundant data. If you migrate from R/3 recruitment to e-recruiting, make sure that you do not stick to the old concept but make use the benefits of the new structure. Change trip status of any trips The program RPRTRVSW allows changing the status of an individual trip. To be able to use the program you have to modify it by marking the following lines with asterisks first: IF extern IS INITIAL. WRITE: / text-001. WRITE: / text-002. EXIT. ENDIF. The program contains this exit command for security reasons. Only persons who know the logic of the trip status should be authorized to use this program. The results of the status change should be tested in the test system. Please note the documentation of the program, too.

4. What’s new in Human Resources?
Characteristics of a good Consultant Generally, a Consultant is called in by a company to provide his expertise. A consultant is expected to know or to do things which the customer’s staff doesn’t know or isn’t capable of doing. At first sight, this expectation seems to suggest that the consultant remain passive, and to wait for the client to set the pace, to define topics, to ask questions etc. Truth is: it is the other way around. In order to gainfully use his experience and expertise, a Consultant needs to be an active player. Only then will his client draw maximum benefit from his expert knowledge. “India slowly gets expensive” In the low-wage country India costs are growing. For this reason SAP wants to look for alternative locations. On focus are China and Eastern Europe. 8. Book Recommendations
Mastering HR Management with SAP - Available now! C. Kraemer, S. Ringling, S. Yang This is the second book written for SAP PRESS® by AdManus-consultants that is translated into English. This book contains a lot of our project experience what makes the book very up-to-date in a technical, organizational and conceptual manner. The authors describe a personnel management process beginning with the recruiting until the transfer of the personnel data to financial and cost accounting. Every chapter deals with one process of the HR modules. In addition cross-section processes as quality assurance and personnel controlling are discussed. Every chapter first explains the managerial basis, after with help of case studies the conceptual implementation in R/3® and finally the concrete customizing. The integration with the process of personnel planning is discussed, too. Because the book shows chances, risks, stumbling blocks, critical success factors and approaches with concrete process examples - it is very practice-oriented. The readers of the book may also use our online offers, particularly the download of all processes you find in the book either as ARIS® database or PowerPoint files.
